iPhone launch “2″

30 11 2007

Well, I wrote earlier that the iPhone was “out” but playing with it I decided it would actually work well for me. So with less than a week to go, my own personal iPhone launch is approaching. I’ve been looking into and signing up for webapps in anticipation. Though I think it’s missing some things, I think I can adapt to it. I’ve always told people that you find a piece of electronics and like a person, you learn to live with it for the device or person will not or cannot adapt to you.

iPhone, touch out…

24 11 2007

After rethinking things, I’ve decided to go with Nokia’s N810 internet tablet.

Why, the N810? Well, though Linux, the system doesn’t seem as closed as the Apple platform. Sure, that’s why Apple stuff looks so great and works pretty well. No one can tinker with it. Maybe some of it is my use to tinkering/tweaking my stuff but I think it’ll be a better fit.

The iPhone will have to wait ’til next year and hopefully it’ll be more phone like (predective name or number as you dial) and get it’s search/find capability. And of course, 3G like everyone is asking for.

iPhone’s gonna have to wait

21 11 2007

Looks like the iPhone’s gonna have to wait. At least ’till MacWorld in January. The deal breaker for me and many others is that it doesn’t have one of the most basic feature of a PDA/Smartphone, the find/search/”searchlight”. So, until it has it, I’m gonna have to wait for iPhone “2″ or nano.

now leaning…

19 11 2007

Well, alittle reserearch revealed our base ATT Mobility bill will rise from $60 to $80 to add the data plan the iPhone requires. Not quite as bad as I originally thought (which was closer to $100). Now if only I could get the iPhone for better than $400. Actually, my friend’s sister won one and sold it for the mid $200s just a month ago.

to iphone or not?

19 11 2007

With the Apple store opening maybe this Friday next door to my work, I have to ask myself

to iphone or not, that is the question…

to be able to access the internet anywhere or just hot-spots?

I have to admit the iphone is seductively cool after playing around alittle with one at the Valley Fair Apple store. I found it missing a find or search ( I was corrected to “searchlight” by the Apple employee) . My Blackjack has it. Very useful when trying to find something whether a contact, note or event which the iphone and ipod touch have. Maybe it’s sooo simple (being a Mac product) that it doesn’t need it. I think it’ll be the Touch’til the searchlight is added.

when is a new car not new…

11 11 2007

When is anew car not a new car anymore?

With the 6 month mark coming up in just over 2 weeks and 10000 miles already under the timing belt, when is a not “new” anymore?

  1. When new car smell is gone? Don’t remember this one having one.
  2. First windshield chip? Within the first month.
  3. First ding? That was 2-3 months ago. My fault. Didn’t think about the clearance for the hatch’s swing.
  4. First curb kiss? One so far,  maybe a month ago. It’s a pretty minor one.

art imitates…

7 11 2007

This evening I found myself living the Visa debit card commerical. I was in line paying for something and I was behind someone paying with coins… Pennies! The total was $3.72 for a 2 liter soda and a can of SPAM (note correct and legal spelling). The rest of us joked alittle after the person left. I, of course, used my ATM card. As I left, the person returned to the store. I wonder for another purchase or return???

excited?

1 11 2007

Well, my birthday’s a coming and this year I’m actually alittle excited. I hate to admitt that the iPod Touch that I’m asking for is making me alittle giddy. Why the Touch and not the phone? Well, the $20 more per month I’d have shell out for the data plan plus my wife loses her corporate discount (which I presume goes to Apple). I’m happy with my Blackjack and I was looking for a internet device so I make entries into my blog (ha-ha!). I did play around with a Nokia N series tablet but it’s nothing compared with what little I’ve played with the Touch.
