Last night while watching the Giants’ game on TV, they showed a shot of the full moon rising and it had a nice reddish hue to it. That’s a nice shot so off I go to take the picture. First by foot. No clear shot so I drive over to the flats where there’s a clear eastly view.
This morning while watching the news, weather comes up and they showed the Golden Gate with a nice low fog. So I think, another nice shot. Since the GGB is close to where I work, I leave the house early to take it. Unfortunately, 1 hr later, some of the fog burns off but still not bad. When I first get there, a “perfect” shot materialized in front of me as I crossed the street. A pelican had just taken-off from the wetlands with the GGB in the background and it was flying towards me. A nice big, slow flying bird with a great background. I swing around the camera, flip the power switch on and 3 things that would have prevented this great shot.
- the lens cap was still on
- I was still in manual exposure from last night
- I still had exposure comp (-2 stops) from last night
Anyway, still got some nice shots and am working on another pano shot like the header.
