ouch…

While removing some a velcro patch, I gave myself a nice 3/4″ slice on my finger tip. Nice sharp blade, didn’t even hurt and hardly drew blood. It’s almost like a surgical incision of just the skin. Bad thing was, it was on the last cut.

Decisions…

23 02 2007

This weekend, we went by the SonyStyle store while at the shopping center and we saw this cool all in one Sony desktop. But, with the up coming purchase of a car and taxes, we don’t need a new computer. In fact, I’m debating of selling my old beloved Fujitsu for a little extra cash.

Yes, it’s a beautiful day…

13 02 2007

After a week + of countless hours of phone support & tech chats, I finally got someone at earthlink who seemed to know what they were doing. By that I mean, “we” were actually doing stuff that seemed to be doing something and not going into a endless loop of resetting the modem. So, what did all this time boil down to? 30 mins and mainly, entering the DNS numbers manually. And when I left her house, it was a beautiful day.

First look @ Windows Vista

8 02 2007

Today I helped out a friend replace her ancient Win98 home-built computer with a new Vista powered one. The new OS is very pretty (yeah, like a Mac) and I thought I’d be a fairly easy task. Two big problems: one, I could not get a flashdrive to work with her old computer. Though it had USB ports, no drivers existed. Two, after about 2 hours of trying to get it hooked up to the internet, I found out that Earthlink’s DSL was down in her area! So, to get her data over, I removed her drive and slaved it into mine so I can copy the files onto a couple of CDs.

It’s two days later and Earthlink’s netstatus still reports outages. Will try to at least get her dial-up with there backup system. Something us Cable users do NOT have.

QM2 comes to town

5 02 2007

I took off work early to get a few snaps of the QM2 while it was in town. I brought my “real camera“  but I forgot the battery I had just charged up the night before. Luckily I had my little Sony and thank God the battery had a charge in it. Another hike up and down Telegraph Hill (See Fleetweek) and got some shots. Unfortunately, the view from high up wasn’t so good. click to enlarge but street level was more interesting click to enlarge especially with a couple of Segways!
