After my much anticipated wait for the new Sony D-SLR A100, there’s the new Nikon D-SLR D80. I thought the Sony would be almost perfect. Well at least on “paper” it seemed. Here’s my inital thoughts about the Sony:
Likes:
- image stabilization
- sensor cleaner
- large 2.5″ (standard these days)
Dislikes:
- large 2.5″ LCD not up to Sony “standards” in clarity
- not a good build (felt very much like the Konica Minolta 5D)
- Sluggish or slow sounding 3fps shooting. (not crisp like Nikon and Canon’s low end)
It’s alittle more (the D80 to the Sony) but unfortunately it won’t arrive before my up coming trip to Italy. Seems almost like fate that Nikon sent two photographers to Italy to “try out” the camera. The PDF brochure even has the places I’ll be going.
